STATEWIDE E-RATES WORKSHOP -- MORNING SESSION
On October 28, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 am, Mary Mehsikomer, former state E-rate liaison and current NW-LINKS Network Coordinator, will provide a presentation on the federal E-rate telecommunications program. The workshop will be delivered over ITV, using sites located throughout Minnesota. This overview of the program will include:
1. A review of the E-rate application process from start to finish.
2. Potential things to watch for in this year?s applications.
3. Suggested tools to use on the Schools and Libraries Division website to manage your E-rate application process.
4. Questions and answers.
Attendees will leave the workshop with a sound knowledge of the steps involved in applying for E-rate and be prepared for the coming onslaught of the E-rate application season. Information provided in this workshop, as well as the afternoon workshops, is applicable to both schools (public and private) and public libraries.

STATEWIDE E-RATES WORKSHOP -- AFTERNOON SESSIONS
On October 28, 2009, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, Mary Mehsikomer will give an overview, with Q and A, of changes in the E-Rates application process from previous years, including forms changes, eligible services for E-Rates discount, and other things.
From 2:40 pm to about 3:30 pm, Trascy Fiereck and Mary Mehsikomer will discuss E-Rates audit do's and do not's, with Q and A time, based on their personal experiernces this past year with network audits and network site audits.
NOTES: Persons new to the E-Rate process are encouraged to attend all day. Experienced E-Rates application persons are encouraged to attend both of the afternoon sessions. E-Rate audits throughout the US are expected to be more than double the number of audits last year.
Also, we are trying to arrange live non-interactive webcasts and a place to archive all three sessions. More information on these alternatives a bit later.
