ENVISIONING THE FUTURE:
GOVERNMENT INFORMATION IN AN AGE OF TRANSITION
Monday, May 14, 2007
Continuing Education & Conference Center (formerly Earle Brown Center)
St. Paul Campus
University of Minnesota – Twin Cities
Government information and the roles of related stakeholders have been radically transformed in the last decade. Technology has complicated the concept of government "publications" and collections. Similarly, previously separate and stable roles in the information lifecycle - producer, disseminator, collector - have begun to converge. Join us for a discussion of changes already in progress that will be leading government information activities in libraries in the future.
This symposium will address issues surrounding this theme, including:
*What new kinds of collections might we look forward to?
*How can we best provide access to them?
*What does the government information universe look like?
*What happens to copyright when government information is digitized as part of mass digitization projects?
